Appaloosa

The Appaloosa is an ancient breed whose unusually marked coats have been discovered in the wall drawings of European Ice Age caves, and found in Chinese works of art dating back to 500 B.C. According to Greek records, Persians rode spotted war horses. Legendary writings reveal that these horses were regarded as sacred.Although the Appaloosa breed has long history the name is relatively new. Inhabiting parts of Northwestern United States a couple of centuries ago, was an Indian tribe known as the Nezperce. They had beautiful horses with coats of various patterns and colors. No one knows how or when these Indians acquired their horses. Perhaps they descended from the spotted strains among those horses brought to the New World by Spaniards in the sixteenth century. These animals must have appealed greatly to the Nezperce for they were considered one of the most colorful tribes. The artists beaded designs in their clothing and horse trappings were outstanding. - Taken from the book, Wonderful World of Horses. I will do one breed every month.

    2. You should talk to the horse so it will listen to you, calm your horse down if it does not want to get ridden, and when you are on the trail talk to your horse so it will be nice.

      Ella.
